JSU president busted in Clinton prostitution sting

The president of Jackson State University, William Bynum Jr., was one of 17 arrested in Clinton this weekend in a prostitution sting operation.
Bynum, 57, is charged with procuring the services of a prostitute and marijuana possession in addition to making a false statement of identity.
In 2017, the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning selected Bynum to become JSU’s president. He served at Mississippi Valley State University for four years prior to his appointment to JSU. He is married and the father of six.
The Clinton Police Department’s two-day sting resulted in 17 arrests, including eight arrested for felony charges.
Among the others arrested was Vicksburg resident Anthony Bowman, 48, charged with procuring the services of a prostitute.
