Jackson State University’s Sonic Boom of the South will be performing at the inauguration celebration of President-Elect Joe Biden and Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris.

“We are incredibly honored that the Sonic Boom was asked to join in such a historic occasion. This is a significant opportunity and unforgettable moment for our students in the band program,” said Thomas K. Hudson, president of Jackson State University, in a statement Monday. “We are truly proud of the work they do on and off the field, and this special performance is a reflection of their commitment to their craft.”

In addition to JSU Sonic Boom, many other Historical Black Colleges will perform at the inauguration’s “We Are One” event Tuesday evening, including Grambling State and Southern University. The event will be hosted by Terrence J. and will be streamed live on bideninaugural.org/watch from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Central Time.
