JSU’s winningest football coach W.C Gorden dead at 90

Jackson State University’s winningest football coach W.C. Gorden died Friday at the age of 90.
JSU athletics noted his passing Friday on Twitter.

Gorden was an assistant coach at JSU from 1966 to 1976 before becoming head coach, He was the Tiger head coach from 1976 to 1991.
Gorden won eight SWAC championships and finished his career at JSU with a 119-48-5 coaching record.
The Jackson City Council voted last month to rename Jaycee Park in Gorden’s honor.
