Juanita Boutwell Barrett passed away on Oct. 25 at the age of 90.

Juanita was born in Winnsboro, LA to William Lee Boutwell and Ida Miller Boutwell on Nov. 3, 1931. She made her home in Vicksburg, MS since high school graduation in 1948. She was employed by South Central Bell for 33 years. She was married to Paul Barrett, Warren County Sheriff, for 65 years, until his death in 2014.

Juanita (Mamaw) was the most loving, dedicated, and generous grandmother. Spending time with her ‘babies’ as she referred to her grands brought her the greatest joy. She was witty and fun to be around. She was an expert cook, always trying new recipes and sharing with her family and friends,

She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Barrett, son Michael Paul Barrett, her parents, brothers William (Buster) Boutwell, Max Boututwell and John Boutwell, and a sister Gladys Hawkins.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law Jane Worley Barrett, grandchildren Tiffany and Eric Newman of Bossier City, LA, Jennifer and Eric Pope of Alexandria, LA, Michael and Crystal Barrett of Baton Rouge, LA, great-grandchildren Shelby and Barrett Newman, Tyler, Emily and Colby Pope, and Jackson and Jameson Barrett.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 31, 2022, at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery. Rev. Marvin Curtis will officiate the service. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Michael Barrett, Eric Pope, Eric Newman, Tyler Pope, Barrett Newman and Colby Pope. Honorary pallbearers will be Jackson Barrett and Jameson Barrett.
