Judge imposes maximum bond on Stewart for domestic violence and animal cruelty

Walter Stewart received bonds totaling $4,000 at his initial appearance in Warren County Court Wednesday in front of Judge Marcie Southerland.
Stewart was charged with two misdemeanor counts, one for simple domestic violence and the second of animal cruelty stemming from an incidence caught on video Tuesday.
Bond for the domestic violence charge is $1,500 and $2,500 for the animal cruelty charge. If convicted, Stewart faces up to 6 months in jail and a fine of $5,000 for the domestic violence charge and 6 months in jail and a $2,000 fine for animal cruelty.
The incident began Tuesday when Warren County Sheriff deputies responded to a domestic call on Berryman Road, according to Sheriff Martin Pace.
Upon arrival, they were shown a video by Nan Buck that showed what they perceived to be Stewart perpetrating a deliberate act of animal cruelty.
Stewart was still at the scene and deputies took him into custody at that time.
