In a rematch between Vicksburg Junior High and Clinton, the Gators were once again able to pull off a victory as they won 55-52 over the Arrows on Thursday.

Last month when the two teams met, they were in front of a hostile Clinton crowd that rooted for Gators head coach Jerdon Hardiman to be thrown out of the game.

Late in the first quarter of yesterday’s game, the Gators were trailing 11-7, but Kelon Bass and Davion William both dropped a big 3-pointer and helped Vicksburg take the first-quarter lead by a score of 18-14.

Tyler Carter stepped up in the second quarter by dropping 7 points to add on to the Gators score as Malik Montgomery added 4 points of his own. The Gators finished the first half of the game on top 32-22, their biggest lead of the night. Carter finished the game with 16 points and 12 rebounds

Davion Williams led the Gators in points during the third quarter by putting up 5 points as both Clinton and Vicksburg fought to determine who would be No. 1. The third quarter ended with the Gators leading 44-37.

In the fourth quarter, the Gators kept their winning mentality as Jaylin Jackson scored 6 points as Tyler Carter fouled out in the final minutes. Malik Montgomery scored two free throws to help seal the deal. The Gators are now 13-0 and still the No. 1 team.
