JXN Fest cancelled due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’

The first JXN Fest has been cancelled just a week before the event was scheduled to begin on May 27.
Festival organizers announced that the decision to cancel was based on “security concerns, infrastructure complications, threatening weather and necessary procedures which are no longer possible.”
The Jackson Metro area has been plagued with increasing cases of homicides and shootings, once such incident occurring at the Mississippi Mudbug Festival a few weeks ago.
“Ultimately, in part due to the climate of today’s times, we feel like putting on JXN Fest would present too many situations that have the potential to do damage to not only our community but also our city and state,” the statement reads.
