Katie Jackson is now coaching softball at Warren Central High School

Katie Channell Jackson has been named the assistant coach of the Warren Central High School softball team.
Jackson graduated from WC in 2015 where she played under Coach Dana McGivney. As a junior, she had a .443 batting average, 15 RBIs, and four doubles.
“We did fairly well and we went to the playoffs each year but the thing I remember the most is just getting all the experience,” Jackson said.
A month before her senior season, Jackson signed with Itawamba Community College.
“I had a back injury during my senior year at WC so I didn’t get to play a lot in my final year and I hurt it again in my freshman year at Itawamba so my career ended a little early,” Jackson said.
After earning her bachelor’s and master’s degrees, Jackson has now found her calling at her old high school.
“It’s a dream come true and prayers answered because I always told myself that I wanted to come back here and coach,” Jackson said. For a while, I didn’t think it was possible but when the opportunity came up I had to go for it.”
Jackson will be coaching under the leadership of Brian Ellis who is in his first year with the team.
“I just want to learn under Coach Ellis because he’s got a lot of experience and I want to get a good grasp of playing the other side of the ball game,” Jackson added.
The Lady Vikes’ season won’t officially begin until next spring but summer softball will kick off soon.
