Vicksburg native Kevia Davis has taken over as the Gator Girls Head Coach at Vicksburg High School.

Davis, a former gator girl captain, graduated from VHS in 2018 and has been dancing since the seventh grade as she was a part of the first group of Gatorettes. Her dance skills eventually led her to Alcorn State University where she was one of a few Golden Girls to be the captain of the team for two years straight. She was also the Vice President of The Delta Epsilon Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated

After graduating in 2022, she took a job at her old stomping grounds to take the lead role of her former dance team while teaching at VHS.

“I had no plans of becoming a teacher or a Gator Girl coach,” Davis said jokingly. “It is a blessing that God called on me for this because I can now help prepare the ladies for college and get them a step closer to where they want to be and that goes for my students and my team.”

Besides teaching the Gator Girls some smooth dance moves, Davis is also teaching law & economics as a rookie teacher at VHS.

Fans and supporters can catch Davis and the Gator Girls at the VHS football games that are held on Friday nights starting with the Red Carpet Bowl.
