Kobe and Gianna Bryant laid to rest; public memorial Feb. 24

Former NBA superstar basketball player Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna were laid to rest Friday in a private ceremony in California.
Both Kobe and Gianna died along with seven others in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, Calif., on Jan. 26. The news of Bryant’s death shook the world, especially those close to him such as his former teammate Shaquille O’Neal.
Bryant retired in 2016 and the Los Angelos Lakers retired both of his jersey numbers, No. 8 and No. 24. Bryant had five NBA championships with the Lakers and since his retirement, he had been coaching his daughter Gianna’s basketball team.
Kobe and Gianna were laid to rest on Friday, Feb. 7, 2020. A public memorial is scheduled for Feb. 24 at the Los Angeles Staples Center at 10 a.m. PST.
