Koestler named as Hinds CC new pitching coach
Vicksburg native and former Warren Central High School star baseball player Carlisle Koestler has been hired as Hinds Community College’s new pitching coach.
“Carlisle is a star in the making, and we are super excited about him coming back to Hinds, this time as our pitching coach,” head coach Dan Rives said. “He accomplished some great things on the mound here in Raymond, as well as at Southeastern Louisiana and Mississippi State, where he won a national championship. Carlisle is very intelligent, yet very competitive, and I know he will bring those same qualities to our pitching staff.”
Koestler spent last season as the Director of Baseball Operations at Samford University but has now been given the chance to help lead the Eagles.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to come back home and contribute to a program that has given me so much,” Koestler said. “I know what the expectations are, and I am excited to help players achieve their goals and ultimately aim for championships.”
Koestler moved around a bit in college as he played two seasons at Hinds CC, seasons at Southeastern Louisiana University and two years at Mississippi State where he was a part of the 2021 National Championship team. He received a medical redshirt during his 2019 year of college and was granted an extra year for the COVID-19 pandemic year.
