Lady Braves softball team ends Jackson State University’s season on Thursday

Alcorn State University softball team knocked of No. 1 Texas Southern and Jackson State University on Thursday to advance deeper in the SWAC Tournament.

The Lady Braves first took down TSU in a 6-5 win in Gulfport to move on to play in-state rival Jackson State.

Kiri Parker pitched the 8-3 win over the Lady Tigers, throwing five strikeouts in the victory.

Marsha Hunt and Desirea Lindsey both went 3 for 4 at the plate for the Lady Braves. Hunt also led the team with two RBIs.

Takiya Hill and Macie Kippenbender pitched for JSU and combined for eight strikeouts.

The Lady Braves will now go on to play Souther University at 10 a.m. on Friday in a elimination game.
