Lady Flashes crushed Tallulah Academy 15-2 on Monday

St. Aloysius softball team are 2-0 after defeating Tallulah Academy 15-2 on Monday.

“We were confident coming into this game based off our last performance and we did better than expected so we’re pleased with the outcome,” Kyleigh Cooper said.

The game started off slow on both ends as Kyleigh Cooper, Ali G. Luke and Maddy McSherry all earned early hits. Emily Fortenberry would also get a hit for TA.

The Lady Flashes got on the board in the third inning after singles from Megan Theriot and Luke. Ruthie Britton would contribute with a RBI to put the score at 2-0. A single from Marsh in the bottom of the inning that gave the Lady Trojans their first run.

St. Al started fifth inning with a bang as Maddy McSherry hit a triple followed by doubles from Madison Spencer and Ruthie Britton to put the lead at 4-1. Luke and Theriot would be next to earn RBIs as Cooper and McSherry followed up with doubles as the Lady Flashes took the 9-1 lead. Moberly would double for TA to bring in a run that put the game at 9-2.

Madelyn Kavanaugh, Theriot and Cooper hit singles in the final inning while Spencer got a double and Lili Perniciaro hit a triple to put the game away with a final score of 15-2.

Cooper ended the night by going 3 for 3 at the plate, including having two doubles and striking out eight batters. Spencer brought in two hits(two doubles) and three RBIs while McSherry(two triples and a double) also had three hits. Luke had two hits and three runs while Britton(double), Perniciaro(triple), Crawley Haller and Kavanaugh each had a hit.

“We did well but there’s a few things we have to clean up but we stuck together and finished the game out on top,” Luke said.

St. Al will host Riverfield on Thursday.
