St. Aloysius girl’s soccer team started their season off with a bang by shutting out Adams County Christian School 5-0 on Thursday.

“Overall the girls did great but we still need to clean up some things but they played very well,” Head Coach Gio Baldizon said.

Grace Windham scored the first goal of the night with an assist by Samantha Edwards. Bree Butler stepped up and scored the next three to give the Lady Flashes a 4-0 lead.

“I feel like we did great even though we didn’t have the best summer practices but we all came out here and worked as a team and if we continue to do that then we’re going to have a good season,” Butler said.

“We were super positive all night and even though we didn’t have those practices we still worked together and won,” Madi Matthews said.

Edwards got the last goal of the night to cap off the win that gave the Lady Flashes a 1-0 record.

”We made a lot of connections tonight and I’m proud of the team effort,”Assistant Head Coach Maurice Gilliam said.

Matthews and Windham both had two assists on the night and Edwards finished with one.

”We all did great and to win 5-0 feels good and I think the rest of the season will be great,” Edwards said.

St. Aloysius will play Cathedral in a away game on Tuesday.
