St. Aloysius(10-2) picked up a special district win on Monday night and surpassed last year’s record in a 9-0 victory over Adams County Christian School.

“This was all them and they did it themselves because they wanted it and we’re going to go back to work tomorrow night,” St. Al head coach Mike Foley said.

The first two innings were dry on both ends. Megan Theriot and Madison Spencer both brought in hits but the score remained tied at zero.

Things heated up in the third inning after a hit from Kyleigh Cooper. Soon, the bases were full. Presley Brister was then hit by a pitch that resulted in the Lady Flashes getting on the board. Ruthie Britton then grounded out but brought in two RBIs to put the score at 3-0.

Cooper didn’t allow any hits in the fifth inning. St. Al worked as a team to quickly send the Rebels back to the dugout. Cooper, McSherry and Brister brought in singles early in the fifth. Spencer then hit a triple that added three runs, followed by an RBI from Lili Perniciaro to put things at 8-0. They earned one more run from a wild pitch to go up by nine.

St. Al eventually closed things out with the 9-0 win.

“We started off a little slow but we worked together and turned everything on and showed everyone that we know how to win,” Spencer said.

Spencer went 2 for 3 with three RBIs while Cooper brought in two hits as well as striking out 11 batters.

“This definitely felt wonderful and we were all very nervous coming into it but once we got to playing we did what we’re used to doing,” Cooper said.
