Lady Vikes got a overtime win over Ridgeland on Tuesday

Warren Central High School girl’s basketball team got a 46-43 overtime win over Ridgeland on Tuesday.

Shots coming from Kayleigh Karel, Zion Harvey, and Bre McDowell would tie the game at 6-6 in the first quarter. By halftime, the Lady Vikes had a 17-15 lead with the help of Ta’Mya Sims and Harvey who both knocked down a 3-pointer.

Good defense coming out of halftime would allow WC gain a eight point lead while Harvey, Karel, and Sims all knocked down 3-pointers.

The Lady Vikes allowed the Titans to get back into the game during the fourth quarter where they tied up at 38-38 which forced a overtime after Alexis Jefferies knocked down both her free throws.

Sims, Jae’la Smith, and McDowell all scored in overtime to help WC secure the win.

Sims led with 16 points while Karel and Smith both added seven on the board. McDowell put up eight points and Harvey contributed five on the night.

WC is now 3-0 on the year.

Boys game:

WC took a 51-36 loss to Ridgeland. Padre Gray Jr. led with 15 points and Gaylon Turner scored four points while Deonta Segrest added seven.
