Lady Vikes grabbed a 50-44 win over Terry on Senior Night
Warren Central High School girl’s basketball capped off Senior Night with a 50-44 win over Terry.
“We played a good game but we could’ve did better but overall we came out with the win and I’m proud of these girls,” senior Jamaiya Sanders said.
Ta’Mya Sims popped the game off with two 3-points followed by one from Kayleigh Karel as WC took the 11-10 first quarter lead.
The Lady Vikes and Bulldogs both went back and forth in the second quarter as Zion Harvey woke up and hit two 3-points along with a steal and score, while Jamaiya Sanders ended the quarter with a 3-pointer at the buzzer as WC led 27-22 at halftime.
Sims came out of halftime and shot over two defenders while Karel soon hit another 3-pointer. A technical foul would send Jae’la Smith to the foul line and Sanders got a quick layup to push the Lady Vikes up 40-34 heading into the final quarter.
Another technical foul would benefit WC in the fourth quarter but the score remained tight as Smith got off a tough shot.
WC Head Coach Pooh Robinson called a timeout with 1:26 left in the game and the Lady Vikings were able to maintain their lead to put the game away.
Harvey led with 12 points while Karel finished with 11. Sims and Smith both pitched in eight while Sanders added seven. Makayla Mitchell and Alexis Jefferies both scored two points in the win.
