Mississippi Emergency Management Agency announced a large portion of the state is under enhanced risk of severe weather on Friday. Warren County stands to see severe weather activity as well.

According to The National Weather Service, the Warren County area may experience damaging winds of up to 60 miles per hour in the afternoon and evening, with a risk of hail and tornadoes.

The forecast shows a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 7 am, followed by a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 pm.

Last week, severe weather spawned a tornado that carved its way through a portion of the state, leaving fatalities and destruction in its wake. Residents are urged to take precautions and prepare their families for potential severe weather. It is recommended that residents stay weather aware and check local forecasts for updates as the situation may change rapidly.
