Layla Carter named as tournament MVP for her AAU team
Vicksburg High School girl’s basketball player Layla Carter has been named the tournament MVP for her AAU team, the MBA Bobcats.
Carter scored 29 points during one match in the tournament where she averaged 15.4 points per game, seven rebounds, and 5.3 steals. She also helped the Bobcats clinch the tournament championship where they finished with a 4-1 record under head coach Eddie Young.
Carter became a breakout star in the 2020-2021 season, where she was the lead scorer for the Missy Gators. She them to the semifinals of the playoffs under head coach Troy Stewart.
Although Carter is just a sophomore, she has already been noticed by many Universities, including the University of Louisiana-Monroe, who offered her a scholarship after her freshman season.
Carter will be back in action this weekend as the team travels to Mobile, Alabama for another weekend of basketball.
