Layla Johnson named MVP for the YMCA third and fourth-grade league

Averaging 13.3 points per game, Layla Johnson was named the Most Valuable Player for the YMCA’s third and fourth-grade basketball league.

Johnson played for the Lady Mustangs which consists of players from the Vicksburg-Warren School District. The Lady Mustangs finished with a 4-3-1 record, and she was the team’s lead scorer. Johnson also averaged the most blocks on the team by having three blocks per game.

She also leads the entire league in points. A few weeks ago in the game against the Blue Crush, Johnson scored 22 points to help the Mustangs to a 28-18 win.

Johnson is teammates with her little sister, Lauren, who starts at small forward for the Lady Mustangs.

Johnson is a fourth-grader at Warrenton Elementary and she is the daughter of Lionel and Avina Johnson.
