Leoma Sullivan Raner, 1937 – 2022

In the early morning hours of December 27, 2022, Leoma Sullivan Raner peacefully made her departure from this life to begin her eternal life in Heaven.
Leoma was born on February 20, 1937 in Franklin County, Ms, the daughter of Walter and Minnie Sullivan. She was the last surviving of ten children including six boys and four girls. She was married to her husband, Dudley Raner, on April 14, 1962. He preceded her in death in 1997. Together they raised two wonderful children who will continue to carry on and cherish the memories of them both.
Leoma, lovingly known to her grandchildren as “MawMaw” and her great grandchildren as “Lil MawMaw” lived a full and happy life full of spirit, compassion and faith. She worked 41 plus years for Southwest Electric up until retiring in 2012. She was very fond of her Southwest co-workers that became more like family and spoke of them often through her life. She loved all the beautiful things in life, always wanted to be involved and of course “in the know” with her family. She enjoyed the many vacations she took with her children and grandchildren through the years leaving behind so many wonderful memories for them the cherish. She was a woman known by anyone she met for her never ending kindness, spit-fire attitude, dependability and strong love of family.
She is survived by her children: her son, John Shelton Raner married to Vivian Raner and her daughter, Jannie Annell Viviano; five grandchildren: Samantha Raner, Reece Raner, Richard Dickinson, Joseph Dickinson and Kimberly Dickinson; and ten great-grandchildren.
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. David Headley and staff for the care and love they extended throughout her life; she was so very fond of Dr. Headley and his staff. We would like to thank her care giver and friend Kristin Messino from the bottom of our hearts for her loving care in the latest years of her life. Thank you to Enhabit Home Health and Hospice for all of their supportive help and compassionate care during her final years.
