Lillian Perrye Westbrook Waters, 1945 – 2023

Lillian Perrye Westbrook Waters passed away on April 25, 2023, at the age of 78.

Perrye was born on March 23, 1945, in Canton, MS to John Paul Westbrook, Sr. and Josie Elizabeth Fowler Westbrook. She grew up in Vaughan, MS and graduated from Benton High School. She played piano and also sang in the school’s sextet. Throughout her life she continued to love music.

While in high school, she met the love of her life, Glenn. They married one week after her high school graduation in the church she grew up in and where her grandfather once served as minister. She was married for 59 years until her husband’s death.

Perrye was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved God and all of her family and friends. Up until she could no longer be active, she taught preschool, kept children in her home, was active in the Salvation Army Auxiliary, where she served as an officer, was a Pink Lady, sang in the church choir, was active in missions, served on church committees, taught Bible School, Meals on Wheels, helped with the youth groups, visited the homebound and helped anyone she could by the side of her husband. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and did whatever she could to serve God. She enjoyed doing crafts, cross-stitching, traveling, her flowers and plants in her yard, reading, and being with family and friends.

She is predeceased by her husband Glenn J. Waters, Sr., parents John Paul Westbrook, Sr. and Josie Elizabeth Fowler Westbrook, sister Ozella Elizabeth Davis and brother John Paul Westbrook, Jr.

She is survived by her daughters Linda Waters Edwards (James) and Paula Waters Williams (Brian) and son Glenn J. Waters, Jr., grandchildren Emily Edwards Mabry, Brooke Edwards Griffing, Tyler Williams, Taylor Williams, Trevor Williams and Madison Waters; great-grandchildren Aden Griffing, Tristan Griffing, Jase Griffing, Wyatt Mabry, Knox Griffing, James Mabry and Emma Mabry; brother Hilary Westbrook and sister Betty Ann Smith.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Glenwood Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Ron Burch. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the hour of the service. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Williams, Taylor Williams, Trevor Williams, Freddie Davis, Walter Westbrook and Brian Westbrook. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Baylot, Russell Markle, Dane Davenport, Ryan Robinson, Allan Davis and Johnny Westbrook.

Memorials may be made to the Gideon’s, Ellison United Methodist Church (her church growing up and where she was married), 36 Brown Rd., Vaughan, MS 39179 or Trinity Baptist Church, 3365 Porters Chapel Road, Vicksburg, MS 39180.
