Just after 1 a.m. on Friday, a gray pickup truck, driven by a local teenager, fled from Warren County Sheriff’s Deputies and crashed into a ravine on 61 North.

According to Sheriff Martin Pace, “Just after 1 a.m. Deputy David Culbertson was making a routine check of businesses on 61 north when he saw a Silverado pickup truck at the Dollar General. The vehicle was observed to be sitting at the front door with its lights out. As Deputy Culbertson pulled in to investigate, the vehicle cranked up and drove off. Culbertson turned his blue lights, and the vehicle quickly pulled over. As Deputy Culbertson approached the vehicle it sped off.”

Deputy Culberton, with blue lights and a wailing siren, followed the fleeing vehicle north on Highway 61 a short distance.

The driver lost control of the vehicle and crossed over the median and ended upside down on the opposite side of the road, in a ditch near Childs Road. Deputy Michael Rainey assisted Deputy Culbertson in removing the driver who was checked out by paramedics.

Inside the vehicle was a 14-year-old juvenile who, according to Sheriff Pace, took the vehicle without his parent’s knowledge or permission. The Juvenile will be processed through the juvenile court.
