Past and present talent from Vicksburg will both play and coach in the Magnolia State North/South All-Star game.

Vicksburg High School defensive coordinator Christopher Lacey has been selected to coach the defensive backs for the South Team after leading the Gators to multiple shutouts this season.

Former Vicksburg High School quarterback Tavares Johnson, Jr. will be the offensive coordinator for the North Team. He currently coaches at Hollandale Simmons along with his father, Tavares Johnson, Sr., who will be the head coach of the North Team.

Former Gator assistant coach Jimbo Nowell will coach the linebackers on the South Team after leading Heidelberg to a district championship.

Besides coaches, local athletes Eric Wesley and Jaquez Williams will star for the South. Both played football this season under Todd McDaniel at VHS where they reached the second round of the playoffs.

The All-Star game, founded by Kiery Stribling, is for both public and private school athletes and coaches in Mississippi. The game will be held Dec. 30.
