Local beauty queen headed to State Pageant

K’Lynn Lush of Vicksburg will proceed to the Little Miss Magnolia State Pageant near the end of September.
Kalisha Lush and Quince Butler entered their daughter,K’Lynn Lush (age 2), in the Teeny Miss Warren County where she was crowned winner on June 3.
Concerning what it took to enter, Lush said, “the process was very simple and I want to give an extra special shoutout to our local director Alexis Stevenson and our state director Chris Shannon for being soooooo patient during both pageants.”
When asked what her reaction was to her daughter winning, Lush stated, “I went hoping the best. She was dressed so cute, but we had also missed our nap that day. I remember thinking I had made a mistake, but she participated the best she could although restless. I remember holding back tears as Ms. Stevenson announced prettiest eyes, K’Lynn Lush. We took our picture and she says, ‘and best fashion!’. And just when I thought we were done, she was called once again to represent my second home.”
The Little Miss Magnolia State Pageant is the largest pageant in Mississippi and includes contestants ages 0-11. According to a press release, “This pageant is unique where the children do not wear glitzed-out pageant attire or anything fake, such as hair, spray tans, etc.”
The release further states that the champions of each division will win a $1,000 scholarship “for their future education.” The competition will occur Saturday, September 23 with crowning ceremonies the following day, September 24.
Lush had many to thank for their support of K’Lynn, stating, “Vicksburg is our second home and not only am I grateful that my baby gets to represent Warren County at state, I am even more grateful to every business and individual that helped to make this possible. Because of you we have already secured one crown for ad sales. The last way we can help is to bring her to the top spot for People’s Choice. If you all would be so kind as to follow the link and help us get to one of the top 3 spots, we would be so grateful. Again, from the bottom of my heart, to the entire city of Vicksburg, thank you.”
Among the sponsors for K’Lynn, Lush wished to thank Bumper to Bumper Auto Parts, Tommy’s BBQ, Nick’s One Stop, Binah Academy, Magnolia Jewelers, Port Gibson Chamber of Commerce, Willie White, Mayor of Port Gibson, Hudson Grocery, New Come and See Church, Powerhouse Nutrition, Thomas Tax and Financial Service Chaplaincy Services & Consulting Platinum Senior Concierge, Inc., Tina’s Flowers, and Lucy DeRossette at Keller Williams Realty.
