Local business owners create a Christmas Pop Up Shop and Toy Drive
The first annual Christmas Pop Up Shop and Toy Drive in Vicksburg will feature shopping, a toy drive and Santa.
The event, hosted by the Emerald Collection and Treats by Ava Nichole, will take place Dec. 21 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 2000 Drummond St. and will feature 15 local small businesses including Adorn by Iris and Unbreakable Photography.
Event organizers Latina Smith and Ariel Wilson hope that this event brings some positive energy to Vicksburg.
“Since it’s Christmas, I was just looking for something to do for the community, especially with so many bad things happening,” Smith said. “I wanted to try to do something that brought everyone together. So myself and one of my friends, Ariel Wilson, came up with an idea to do a pop-up shop since there are a lot of small businesses in the city.
“Along with that idea, we also figured that we’d do a toy drive as well since it’s almost Christmas time.”
The pop-up also features a very special motivational guest.
“We will also have a guest speaker, Miss Black America Sr. 2019 Kathy Amos, at the event to give words of encouragement and a brief speech to all of the up-and-coming business owners who will be in attendance,” she said.
Vendor spots are still available and are priced at $30.

“We’re hoping to bring joy to the city and just bring the community together,” Smith said. “It’s just about every day that something bad is being reported in the media, and since it’s the holiday, I wanted to try and put people in good spirits and bring the community together.”
