A group of local children have decided to spend their Labor Day afternoon giving back to their community.

Cousins Avery Hearn, 9, Charlie Stauts, 9, Tillie Stauts, 4, Addi Griffith, 5, and Gracie Stauts, 5, have set up a lemonade stand at 1210 Newitt Vick Drive, in the Openwood Plantation development off of Oak Ridge Road.

The kids are raising donations for the Vicksburg-Warren Humane Society.

“This is the second time they’ve done it.  The first time they donated all the money to the children’s shelter, this time they wanted to donate it to the humane society,” said proud dad and uncle Steven Griffith, “and this is all the children’s idea.”
