Friday at Sports Force Park, local photographer/videographer Larry Walker and local softball team the River City Rippers shot a music video for a Tik Tok song. Vicksburg native, Larry Walker Jr. got his start in photography back in 2015 and since then has been honing his craft with each new opportunity. “I’ve been doing hype videos for the highschools around here for the last few years for the football teams and stuff like that, and that gave me opportunities to do hype videos for Mississippi College,” Walker said. This trajectory led to Walker being asked to do a hype video last year for St. Aloysius High School softball team in Vicksburg. For that video, the song Row My Boat by CJ Beatty was chosen, a rap song that is well known in the softball community as it’s all about the sport. “A lot of kids around the world are using that song to walk out for their softball tournaments and things of that nature,” explained Walker.“After we did that video, I tagged the artist in it—I didn’t know him at all—and he reached out and said that his team wanted to get me to shoot the official music video for that song,” recounted Walker.According to Walker, since then the song became even more well known, going viral in the last two weeks or so. Beatty’s team then determined it was time and reached out to start the process of making the video with Walker. To star in the video, a local girls softball team was chosen, The River City Rippers. Head coach Micheal Dale surprised the girls with the information on Wednesday at a team party.Beatty posted a short video on his instagram on Friday showing the excited team getting ready to start filming. “We got big things happening in Vicksburg, Mississippi,” said Beatty. The completed music video is expected to be released the first week of August. Larry Walker (left) and CJ Beatty (Right). Photo by Hunter Weeks
