Log truck accident on 61 South damages traffic lights

An accident between a log truck and a passenger vehicle at U.S. Highway 61 South and Dana Road will snarl traffic in the area until about noon Thursday.

First reports indicate that the drivers in the accident, which occurred about 10:30 a.m., are not injured.

The log truck hit the support pole for the traffic signals at the intersection, and the lights are damaged. Entergy is on scene and representatives of the City of Vicksburg Traffic Department are on the way.

Use caution in the area and find an alternative route if possible.

Vicksburg Engines 7 and 8 both responded. Sgt. Bobby Jones is investigating on behalf of the Vicksburg Police Department.
