Loga Ann Oakes, 1937-2022
Loga Ann Oakes passed away on May 27, 2022. She was 85 years old.
Mrs. Oakes was born in Vicksburg, MS on March 2, 1937, to the late Ophra Carrol Smith and Mary Elizabeth Broadway Smith. She was very active in the Good Sam’s Club, the Home Extension Club and the youth in the community. She was a member of Redwood United Methodist Church. She worked at McRae’s and Belk in security. She enjoyed crafts, painting and sewing.
She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Henry Oakes, Sr., sons Wallace Carroll Oakes and James Warren Oakes and sister Mary Jo Martin.
She is survived by her son Thomas Henry “Bo” Oakes, Jr. (Paulette), daughters Jo Ann Dobbins (Charles) and Linda Sue Martin (Jim), brothers James Harvey Smith, Earnest Albert Smith and Billy Wayne Smith, sisters Carol Jean Tedder, Geraldine Tedder, Patricia Wamble and Frances Smith, 10 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at Glenwood Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Jackson officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of the service. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Cole Surrell, Clay Garner, James Wood, Seth Jackson, Jacob Garner, Jay Hodges, Glen Young and Robert Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be Charlie Tedder, John Oakes, John Earl Oakes and Nathan Oakes.
