If there’s a silver lining to the shaky economy right now, it’s the prices of gasoline.

Mississippi has the least expensive gasoline in the nation Saturday, May 23, but prices are low across the South.

Most stations in Vicksburg are charging around $1.49 per gallon, according to Gas Buddy, with one station, TA Food at 4623 Halls Ferry Road (aka AB Food Mart) charging $1.47 for regular.

That’s up to 20 cents higher that the lowest price in Mississippi, but you’ll have to drive to Kosciusko to get it. Vicksburg’s prices are still lower than the state average of $1.57, according to AAA.

The national average for gasoline Saturday is $1.95 per gallon, with prices highest in California at $2.85.
