Lottie Mae Carpenter, 1936-2023


Our dear mother, Lottie Mae Carpenter, sadly passed away on September 20 at the age of 87. She was born in Chatom, AL to Mike Dees and Virgie Palmer Dees. She was a stay-at-home mom for most of her life. In later years, she worked for Warren Central Cafeteria and Jitney Jungle. She was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church.
Mrs. Carpenter is survived by her three children, Sherry Cahill (Dennis) of Sun City Center, FL, Jackie James (Sammy) of Vicksburg, MS and Sidney L. “Randy” Carpenter, Jr. (Edwina) of Newport, TN; nine grandchildren, Mark Cahill (Kristen), Matthew Cahill (Sarah), Joshua Carpenter (Yulia), Richard McCaa (Victoria), Brandy Carpenter, Lee Carpenter, Shawn Culbertson, Christopher James and Chad James; twelve great grandchildren, Cash Cahill, Sydney Cahill, Ana Wren Cahill, Luke Cahill, McKenna Morrow, Elizabeth Bilbro (Trey), Isla Louise McCaa, Emma Grace Carpenter, Tori Culbertson, Maddy Culbertson, Kaleb Culbertson and Callie Culbertson; one sister, Lou McDuff and three brothers, Eugene Dees (Frances), Melvin Dees and L.V. Dees (Jackie); and numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Thomas Dees, Pat Dees and Melton Dees.
Services will be on Wednesday, September 27, at Fisher- Riles Funeral Home, 5000 Indiana Avenue in Vicksburg, MS and officiated by Kent Campbell, retired Pastor of Woodlawn Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, with the service immediately following in the Chapel. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Mark Cahill and Matthew Cahill and nephews, Chris Phillips and Greg Phillips and friends, C. C. Hamby and Tac Caruthers.
