Louisiana safety regulations for trucking has been extended
Waivers from federal safety regulations for trucking are now extended until March 19, 2021, according to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development.
The DOTD announced Wednesday that the waivers, which were set to expire on March 12, have been extended until March 19, 2021. The waivers have been extended due to conditions caused by the recent winter storm damage and other factors.
The regulations can be viewed on the FMCSA website. The regulations pertaining to the waiver are 49 CFR parts 390-399 and 49 CFR Part 395.
An emergency order has been issued by DOTD Secretary Shawn D. Wilson, Ph.D. The order states that the total gross weight of a vehicle or vehicles cannot exceed 88,000 pounds for any commercial vehicle traveling on Louisiana highways.
