Louisiana State Police and Mississippi Highway Patrol on alert as weather moves in

Conditions across northern Louisiana are beginning to deteriorate as the anticipated winter weather front moves east.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation has closed several flyover exit ramps in the Monroe/West Monroe area. Louisiana State Police have already investigated several crashes near Start in Richland Parish.

Locally, both Vicksburg Police and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office have additional personnel on duty in anticipation of their call volume increasing.

Sgt. Kervin Stewart with the Mississippi Highway Patrol says all days off have been canceled and state troopers normally assigned to other duties will be assisting the enforcement division with their response.

As of 9:30 a.m., there has been some accumulation of ice on elevated surfaces around Warren County, however no major incidents have occurred this morning.
