Fire Chief Danczyk was the first with the fire department to arrive on the scene and reported the structure was fully involved at around 1:30 p.m. Firefighters took a defensive approach to protect the surrounding structures from taking damage. Another structure that was downhill from the fire was at risk of catching fire.

The Vicksburg Daily News reported live from the fire.

Firefighters managed to put the flames out and were hard at work to keep the fire from spreading. Chief Danczyk said that there was no electricity or gas linked to the fire and at this time it is unknown if the home was occupied. As the home was burning, a resident from the adjacent home approached Danczyk and said, “Save my house”
