Mabel Lenora “Nora” Crimm Taylor passed away on June 16, 2023, at her daughters home, after fighting a long battle of pneumonia.

Nora was born on April 29, 1946 in Lake Providence, La to William Charles and Wilma Florence Crimm. She loved calling Vicksburg and all of its historical charm, her home. She attended high school in Holly Bluff, MS where she was an avid basketball player. She was a journalist during the Civil Rights Movement and had a piece published in The Bolivar Commercial.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, her landscape reflected her immense love of flowers and plants and she was a talented self taught artist that painted oil paintings of swamp scenes and the delta landscape. She had a love of classical movies and prided herself with large family gatherings at the holidays with Christmas being her favorite. She was a respected nurse for 43 years and honored in 2021 for 25 years of service with River Region.

Nora is survived by her four children Stacy Dew, Miranda Hawkins, Angel Gatchell and Trey Medders, 13 grandchildren Ian and Robin Summer, Ashley, Amy, Hope and Gracie Gatchell, Katie McClain, Hunter Brooks, Jamie Beach, Emorie Medders, Brandon McAlister and the late Braxton Hynum. She was blessed with 6 great grandchildren Parker, Haizey and Oaklee McClain, Kinsleigh and Ivy Brooks, Braxton Owens and her two brothers Hal Crimm and Jackie Crimm.

Nora is preceded in death by her late husband, Harold Wayne Taylor, 10 brothers and 5 sisters.

The service for Ms.Nora Taylor will be held on Wednesday June 21, 2023, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Visitation is 10:00 -11:00 AM and the service will immediately follow. Burial will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Vicksburg Ms.

Pallbearers will be Randy Gatchell, Will McClain, Hunter Brooks, James Beach, Michael Brewer and Shane Hays.
