Officer-involved shooting in Madison County results in two dead

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is presently gathering evidence related to an officer-involved shooting that took place in Madison County early Wednesday. The incident resulted in the death of two individuals, including the suspected assailant. Additionally, two others sustained injuries.

The series of events that led to the shooting began on Tuesday evening at Oakfield Boulevard, situated near Clarkdell Road in the Oakfield Subdivision. Madison County Sheriff Randy Tucker reported that his department was alerted to a domestic altercation involving a man and a woman slightly before 10 p.m.

According to a press release by the Department of Public Safety, Deputies were responding to a call for service regarding a domestic disturbance at a home where it is believed the involved subject had fatally injured another individual at this scene. Upon arrival, the subject presented a weapon at the deputies. The involved subject received fatal injuries. The deputies involved did not receive any serious physical injuries during this incident.

MBI is currently assessing this critical incident and gathering evidence. Upon completing the investigation, agents will share their findings with the Attorney General’s Office.
