After a distinguished 33-year Army career, Major General Diana Holland, commander of the Mississippi Valley Division, held her final division-level town hall event where she expressed gratitude and recognition for several deserving employees. As she approaches retirement in July, this marked her seventh town hall since January.

Holland emphasized that her countdown to retirement was not about leaving, but rather about properly expressing gratitude to everyone. Over the past six months, she has undertaken a deliberate campaign with four main priorities: ensuring a seamless transition for the districts, setting long-range milestones, bidding farewell in person to as many people as possible, and saying goodbye to the Army.

“I’m counting the days, not because I’m leaving but to be able to properly say thank you to everybody,” said Holland.

Reflecting on her extensive service, Holland stated, “After 33 years, there’s a lot to do.” During the town hall, she emphasized the importance of valuing individuals and prioritizing their safety and morale. Before proceeding with the award presentations, Holland reminded the audience that every person matters.

The event concluded with the presentation of various awards, including 19 Length of Service awards, totaling an impressive 350 years of combined service. Additionally, seven Commander’s Coins, one Certificate of Achievement, three Civilian Awards for Humanitarian Service, 26 Civilian Service Achievement Medals, 13 Civilian Service Commendation Medals, 10 Meritorious Civilian Service Medals, two Superior Civilian Service Medals, and two Bronze De Fleury Medals were bestowed upon deserving recipients.
