Former Mississippi State wide receiver Malik Dear has been named co-offensive coordinator for the Holmes County Central High School football team.

Before playing for the Bulldogs, Dear was a star athlete at Murrah High School in Jackson where he finished with more than 3,000 rushing yards in his high school career. He also managed to rack up over 2,000 receiving yards at Murrah under offensive coordinator Marcus Rogers who is now head coach at Holmes CC High School.

Dear began his career at MSU in 2015, and he helped the Bulldogs to a 9-4 record under former head coach Dan Mullen. After suffering an ACL tear in his junior season, Dear’s football agility changed but he still managed to play, and he was an impact player for the Bulldogs.

Dear will now be coaching with his former high school coach who was also Vicksburg High School’s head coach in 2017.

Dear is no stranger to the offensive side of the football as he dominated on every level he played on. He will now help lead the Jaguars who have a 19-7 record since Rogers took over the program two years ago.
