Man and infant shot Saturday in Leake County

In Leake County, Mississippi, Saturday afternoon, Sept. 21, a man and an infant were shot.

Sheriff Greg Waggoner said that two men got into a fight on Waggoner Road, reports WLBT. Daniel Momon, 25, went into the house and came back out with a shotgun. He then started shooting into a car outside.

A 1-year-old baby sitting in the car was shot in the hip. A man then came out of the car shooting at Momon, striking him in the buttocks.

Momon taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He has been released from the hospital, and has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault, WLBT said.

The infant, Jamaryan Johnson-Walker, was also transported to the hospital. He is expected to recover; however his condition was not released.

The man who shot Momon has not been identified or taken into custody, and the sheriff has not indicated whether he will be charged.
