Man arrested for driving under the influence after car crash on Clay Street

A man was arrested for a DUI following a crash on Clay Street Friday afternoon.

Around 2:50 p.m., two vehicles collided in front of McAllister’s Deli. One of the vehicles that was hit veered off and struck a tree beside the exit of the McAllister’s parking lot. Both vehicles were badly damaged in the process. Traffic was backed up on the right side of Clay in front of McAllister’s heading towards Beechwood.

FireBoss Jerry Briggs was on the scene along with the Fire Department, the Vicksburg Police Department, an ambulance and Highway 27 motors.

One man was arrested for driving under the influence and is currently in custody. No sustained injuries have been reported at this time.
