Port Gibson Police Chief Russell Dorsey said that a good citizen alerted him that a man fitting his description had been spotted a little after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

“I immediately responded and made contact with that subject on the Bayou Pierre Bridge,” Chief Dorsey said. “I confirmed that [he] was missing, so he was transported to the Port Gibson Police Department. From there, his family and Jackson Police Department were contacted.”

Amenta’s family advised authorities that he is suffering from mental illness and they had been frantically searching for him for several days.
