Man rescued from a tree in the Big Black River


A swift-water rescue team rescued a man from the Big Black River today after his boat capsized.
The unnamed man, 54, was rescued near U.S. Highway 80 in Hinds County, the third such rescue in the area since Friday, WLBT reports.
The man, who was in a tree, was treated and is recovering, according to the Hinds County Sheriff’s Office.
Search and rescue teams from across the state are staged in the Jackson metropolitan area to make such rescues, WLBT reports. Participating in this rescue are teams from DeSoto County and from the Mississippi towns of Columbus, West Point and Biloxi.
