Mandatory masks go into effect today in 13 counties including Claiborne and Hinds
The governor’s latest executive order making masks mandatory when in public goes into effect for 13 counties Monday.
The counties included are Claiborne, DeSoto, Grenada, Harrison, Hinds, Jackson, Jefferson, Madison, Quitman, Rankin, Sunflower, Washington and Wayne.
Mississippi has seen a surge in new COVID-19 cases in the past several weeks, but these counties have been hit particularly hard. Gov. Tate Reeves indicated the order would remain in place until July 20, or until cases in the affected counties see a decline.
Additional restrictions have been placed on businesses and social gatherings.
