Mary Mathes Cummings, 1940 – 2021

Mary Mathes Cummings passed away on Nov. 9. She was 81 years old.

Mary was born on May 3, 1940, the daughter of R. L. Wilson and Evelyn Roberts Wilson.  She retired from the Mississippi Forestry Commission after over 30 years of service.  She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Harvey Olen Mathes, Sr. and Marion Cummings; and sisters, Dora Newman and Florence Hoover.

She is survived by her sons, Harvey Mathes, Jr. (Sandy) and Robert Mathes (Sarah); daughter, Doris Rippy (Randy), sister, Jean Edwards; grandchildren, Amber Haslauer, Brittany Eaves, Pat Scallions, Harvey Mathes, III, Emily Mathes and Robert Mathes, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Karl Haslauer, Samantha Haslauer, Colton Eaves and Cooper Eaves.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Nov. 12 at Glenwood Funeral Home. Rev. Randy Burns will officiate the service. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until hour of the service. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Robert T. Mathes, Robert T. Mathes, Jr., Randy Rippy, Pat Scallions, Harvey O. Mathes, III and Daniel Eaves.
