A large number of VPD units responded to a call of an armed robbery at Roses on Halls Ferry this morning around 8:30 a.m. The call was quickly modified to a burglary in progress.

Eleven VPD units including A4 Troy Kimble arrived at the scene and surrounded the building. As employees were entering the store to open it for the day’s business they noticed a door near the rear of the business was swinging back and forth. The manager stated to the Vicksburg Daily News they saw someone standing in the doorway but did not get a good look at their face. The employees quickly exited the building and called 911.

Radio traffic indicated that an entry alarm went off at around 1:00 a.m. at the facility but it is not known if that was related to this incident.

The units searched the building, the roof and the surrounding buildings but did not find anyone.

At the time of this writing, units were still at the scene searching and securing the area.

The employees at Roses indicated the business will open soon.

The Vicksburg Daily News will check for updated information on this story and provide updates as they are made available.
