During the Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting Monday, Mayor George Flaggs Jr. commended residents of the City of Vicksburg for their precautions during the July Fourth fireworks show.

“The fireworks display was phenomenal, and everyone, for the most part, had masks on and was practicing social distancing,” Flaggs said.

Flaggs also warned everyone that the virus is still a concern. There have been 91 new cases in Warren County reported to date in July.

“That should be a reason to be alarmed,” Flaggs said. “Most of the cases we looked at contain people 18-29 years of age.”

Flaggs is holding a Facebook live Q&A session Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. to address any questions the public may have about the virus. The Vicksburg Daily News will stream the session live on our Facebook page.
