As Hurricane Delta continues its approach, Vicksburg Mayor George Flaggs Jr. called an emergency Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting at 10 a.m. Friday.

Flaggs declared an emergency for the City of Vicksburg. Aldermen Michael Mayfield and Alex Monsour made the move unanimous.

The mayor placed a midnight to 7 a.m. curfew for the city for Friday into Saturday morning.

The city seem to be well prepared for the storm with personnel and supplies standing ready.

Crews and officials have taken steps to ensure fallen trees are cleared and utility lines repaired quickly.

Vicksburg Fire Chief Craig Danczyk and Police Chief Milton Moore have extra men on duty to respond to any emergency situations.
