Mayor Flaggs to recommend Memorandum of Understanding with NAACP

Vicksburg Mayor George Flaggs, Jr. on Wednesday sent a letter to Aldermen Michael Mayfield and Alex Monsour, informing them of his plans to recommend the city enter a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

The recommendation aims to combat the impacts felt by the COVID-19 pandemic, especially housing.

“On Tuesday, October 25, 2022, during the Board Meeting, I am recommending that the City of Vicksburg enter a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP_ to combat the negative economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and said funds can be used for the development, repair, and operation of affordable housing and services to increase long-term housing security,” reads the letter.
