Mayor George Flaggs, Jr. to announce COVID-19 Civil Emergency Order

Mayor Flaggs is expected to announce details of a new COVID-19 Civil Emergency Order for Vicksburg at 4 p.m. today (Wednesday, August 11, 2021).

The announcement will be posted on social media channels, the City of Vicksburg’s website and here, on Vicksburg Daily News.

Details within the new order are not known at this time. However, mask mandates are not off the table. “We’re looking at whether or not we need to expand [the civil emergency order] to the public wearing masks on the inside,” stated Flaggs in a Board of Mayor and Alderman meeting on Tuesday.

As the Delta variant spreads across the state, several communities are also considering mask mandates.
